10 Sep Sustainable Cafes Barcelona
I’ve been living in Barcelona the last ten months and I wanted to put together a post of some of my favorite sustainability focused cafes for a while. As an interior design major and an advocate for conscious lifestyle hunting for sustainable cafes is my favorite traveling pass time and after 10 months in Barcelona I’ve gathered quite a collection of favorites.
Healthy Restaurants Barcelona
Let’s start with Zizina
One of my favorite discoveries in Barcelona Zizina is a Lebanese restaurant located in the neighborhood of Gracia. This spring I was invited for lunch to experience their menu and learn more about their purpose as a restaurant.
All about Zizinia
One of Zizinia’s signature plates featuring roast aubergine stuffed with
walnuts, purple onions, parsley &
coriander. topped with tamarind and tahineh sauce.
Nothing compares to their vegan rice pudding topped with nuts and a fruit compote.
2. if you could mention that all dishes and fermented products and
cheeses are prepared on the premises according to traditional
methods/recipes: this is quite important because it distances us from
the competition. there are quite a number of lebanese/syrian
resturants in gracia…
3. the food is not strictly lebanese, my wife is jordanian and i am
british, we prepare food from both backgrounds.
4. the salad dish in the photo (with lettuce leaves) is called ‘each’
and is a version of tabbouleh.
5. you have a nice description of the pudding and it would be great if
you could also mention that the ‘biscuit’ in the photo alongside is
homemade (called ma’amoul).
Vegan Cafes Barcelona
Cafe Cometa is another of my favorites in Gracia. An entirely vegetarian menu, lots of plant based options and a cozy local vibe. It’s a good place to take a laptop and have a tea if you need to work, or stop by with friends for their vegan carrot cake or daily lunch specials.
Vegetarian Restaurants Barcelona
More of a fine dining option they offer a veggitarian menu of seasonal gourmet plates. Located between Barceloneta and the Gothic Quarter they are a wonderful option if you’re exploring the center of Barcelona, and if you like interior design it’s worth stopping in just to appreciate their natural minimalistic interior.
Like Zizina Gut is located in Gracia and it has a wonderful local vibe. It’s a cozy cafe with a daily lunch menu. Plates designed with conscious, farm to table ingredients, ambiance and attention to detail.
Another of my favorite restaurants in Gracia. Indian food is such a great cuisine and they offer so many plant based options including vegan Thali for if you don’t know is basically a sample platter of Indian dishs, best ordered with garlic naan.
Vegan Food Barcelona
Locally owned, creative vegan menu. Casual and affordable and famous for their vegan pizzas.
Vegan Bowls is an easy option if you’re on the go. I also don’t think you could make plant based foods any cuter. Just check out their Instagram for a visual perspective. Breakfast bowls, buddha bowls, salads and smoothies, oh and they’re plastic free!
