Ethical Sandal Brands

Sustainable Walking Sandals

Reef Sandals

I like the Reef sandals for a few reasons. They offer Birkenstock like comfort, and the “leather” is an animal friendly alternative.

I will say they’re a bit bulky but they could be perfect depending what you’re looking for.

As far as Reef goes, they’re a surfer brand committed to beach cleanups and they’re cleared over 300,000 pounds of trash already. Sad to think that there is that much trash to be cleared from our beaches but what better way to support a positive change.

Vegan Sandals

Amor Vert

Beautiful feminine plant leather sandals, I love the design and both the grey and brown. Versatile colors that will go with most outfits and they look so comfortable as well.

Sustainability is present in all aspects of Amour Vert, from their materials and processing to planting trees and the resounding positive impact of that decision.

Brave Soles Sandals

Brave Soles

One of my favorite designs, they are elegant and detailed yet minimalistic. Oh and their leather is made from upcycled tires!

For more about their mission and some beautiful shots of their sandals, check out my photo journal of their Ophelia Sandals.

Sustainably Made Sandals

Everlane has a beautiful pair of cross over sandals, I especially like the caramel or cream. They are made with real leather but you can look into the facotry processing on their website and everything is done transparently as Everlane is a slow fashion brand.

Sustainable Sandals Etsy

Looking a bit more I could these unique sandals on Etsy.

Not sure about the processing but Etsy is generally pretty small scale and they are 100 percent vegan.

Comfortable Vegan Sandals

A second Etsy find these sandals remind me of a Birkenstock sole and I would assume they offer the same level of comfort, and I love the minimal black design. They come from a popular ethical Esty shop and are made from car tires, motorbike inner tubes, cork, rubber.
